Beef House Basement: I am Sisyphus and I Would Love to Have a Side Hustle
Stories from the Beef House Basement are stories that, for one reason or another, never saw the light of day. When you are in the beef making business, sometimes you forget to sell beef. So it stays in the basement. Keep bouncing.
This story was pretty simple concept about everybody having/desiring a side hustle. Makes me laugh. Got rejected by McSweeneys and I don’t think I did anything else with it.
Dude, you got Etsy and Patreon? That’s sick, dude. I’m crazy jealous. How much does Etsy take as a commission? That’s actually not bad when you think about how much e-commerce infrastructure they are providing you. Dude, I’m stoked. You’ve been talking about selling your t-shirts for a while and it's happening.
I’d love to get where you are at. It’s hard though. Yeah, like I’m not trying to make excuses, and it's up to me to grind, but I just feel like the boulder is taking up a lot of my time. But yeah, we all get the same 24 hours and I am for sure not getting into a full grindset. It’s tough because like, the 24 hours I get seem to all be dedicated to the boulder. But that’s on me.
You do the Etsy shipping on your lunch break? That’s tight. That’s like full hustle mode and I love that. I actually also love the idea of a lunch break. I do not have a lunch break. I know, it's crazy. Yeah, the whole situation is actually pretty bad.
I was actually thinking about some, like, little side hustles I could do. Like I am mostly pushing the giant bolder with my upper body, but there are for sure some times where, like, one of my feet is off the ground as I am walking up the steep hill and I think at that moment I could probably kick a smaller boulder up the mountain too. So like, a second boulder.
Or like, I noticed that once I get pretty close to the top of the hill, the boulder falls back down and I have to start over. It sucks. It actually hurts my spirit in like a crazy way. But like, if someone needed a ride down the hill they could, like, I guess go down on top of the boulder or I could give them a ride on my back.
Yeah, like I wouldn’t be able to give them a ride that far. Yeah, I guess it's a dumb idea. I mean, you don’t have to tell me it's dumb, but for sure, I get it. Yeah, I guess right now I am sticking to my main hustle which is the boulder.
I haven’t looked at your Patreon. Yeah for sure, send me a link. I don’t make really any money from pushing the boulder so I don’t know what I can pay for at the moment, but if you have free stuff I would be stoked to take a look.
Oh, you do a podcast? Dude, I definitely have time to listen to podcasts. For sure. Yeah, is that free? Its behind a paywall? Yeah, that, again, I’m not really making any money from my current situation and that situation appears to be for eternity so I am actually not sure if I will ever be able to pay for anything ever.
Yeah, you’re right. I should get a side hustle.
